Wonderful article. it is great to see the positive effect of TM on ADHD and other learning disorders give such rigorous scientific attention. As the results come in, it will help to publicize the enormous potential this technique has to rid society of these challenging disorders. I highly recommend it.

It is very encouraging to see research beginning to validate The Transcenental Meditation Technique as a modality to improve the academic performance of children with ADHD. Evidence from decades of research shows that The TM Technique does promote holistic brain functioning and expansion of mental capabilities. After age 10, the main locus of brain maturation is the integrative systems of the brain. The type of experience most crucial for unfolding the individual’s brain potential from middle school through higher education would be that which develops higher integration of brain functioning. Research also indicates that the experiences gained through the prevailing educational approach activate specific areas of the brain without fostering more integrated functioning of the brain as a whole. Such education, due to its exclusively segmented approach to knowledge, actually prevents the total development of brain functioning. With more research focusing specifically on possible alternatives to ADHD drug therapies, a much more optimistic picture of our children's future emerges.

Great posting. I have a stepchild who had been diagnosed with ADHD. We were able to avoid putting her on medication by teaching her TM. She improved immediately and over time those changes have gotten even more apparent. Now, a few years later, she has almost no symptoms and is a social, well adjusted A student. I can sat that TM really help turn her life around.
